Maggie's Backstory

Magmis explains her life as an Elemental Wari, and how they were tasked with protecting the people of Noen. She explains that the Elemental Wari of Magic, Mystis, is generally considered their leader and that the other Elemental Wari would always do whatever Mystis asked them to do, even if they didn't always understand her logic. And then along came The Legendary Female, a girl Mystis had foreseen as one they would give part of their power to in order save the worlds from an oppressive evil.

When The Legendary Female, Gloria Rosebloom, is injured by one of the MegaMy, the Elemental Wari gather into her hospital room to give her some of their power as foretold. Mystis instructs Magmis to stay behind and teach her magic, which Magmis questions, but obeys reluctantly.

After spending some time with Gloria, however, Magmis (nicknamed "Maggie" by Gloria) discovers the joy of living a life not bound by Mystis' constant rules. She also comes to see the problems in Noen's society—made especially apparent when they encounter a Myindo named Philippa. Philippa panics when she is discovered for what she is, only to be surprised when Gloria expresses no desire to hurt her or report her to the MegaMy. They talk for a while, and finally Philippa expresses her desire to exact revenge on the MegaMy for murdering her friends and family. In doing so, she questions why the Elemental Wari have been so passive in protecting the Myindo, a question Magmis is unable to answer.

When Philippa runs off to attack the MegaMy Headquarters, Gloria runs after her, but gets attacked by a Wari along the way. She uses her healing powers to heal a wound she received, and Maggie convinces her that it is too dangerous to accompany Philippa. Gloria expresses concern for Philippa's wellbeing, and Maggie responds by assuring her she'd look after Philippa. Gloria agrees to this, and goes home. Maggie later reports that Philippa was not able to destroy the MegaMy as she wanted, but did managed to do some damage to their headquarters and rescue a few Myindo in the process.

A few days later, while Gloria and Maggie are playing in the park, they are approached by some MegaMy agents, who—having seen Gloria heal herself after the encounter with the Wari—call Gloria out for being a Myindo. Despite Maggie's attempts to fight back, the MegaMy manage to capture Gloria and take her to their base. Just as all looks bleak, the other Elemental Wari appear to Gloria, taking her away to Muilic. Maggie is upset by this, having not expected her to be sent away so soon.

In the wake of this, Magmis returns to the realm of the Elemental Wari for the first time in years. She questions Mystis' decision to send Gloria away so soon, to which Mystis replies cryptically as usual. Magmis, finally fed up with Mystis' behavior, calls her out for not doing her job as a protector of the people. She refuses to resume working with Mystis, instead choosing to stay with Jenda Rosebloom and the other people Gloria left behind.
