Plot Synopsis
The comic starts with Derek and Shayla Roald, talking about their soon-to-be child. Derek decides to go back into adventuring to earn the money to provide for the child, but unfortunately, he is killed by monsters in Korocho Forest before the child is born. Shayla, soon to give birth, asks Mr. and Mrs. Fowler to help her in her time of need. Mr. and Mrs. Fowler, the generous people that they are, are happy to help.
Shayla gives birth to her daughter, Ceresa. Shayla tells the infant child that she is very special, and that she will do everything to keep her safe.
Ceresa grows up, under the care of her mother. Finally, when Ceresa is eight years old, Shayla decides to entrust Ceresa with a family heirloom, passed down from the ancient age of magic—two identical magical charms, said to allow the owners to communicate with each other whenever they will it. Ceresa accepts the gift gratefully, promising to take good care of them.
The next day, Shayla and Ceresa go to the Fowlers' house for dinner. But the dinner is interrupted by the arrival of the wicked witch Queen Moriella, who demands to know the whereabouts of some adventurers. Though the Fowlers refuse to give her any information, Queen Moriella is certain that the adventurers had stopped by their house, and resorts to violence in an attempt to get answers. Shayla tells Ceresa to hide somewhere safe, before stepping in and attempting to stop the witch queen with her previously unrevealed magic ability. Queen Moriella, stunned by this reveal, redirects her attention to Shayla, killing her easily. Despite not getting the information she wants, she decides to leave and find her answers elsewhere.
At this point, Ceresa emerges from her hiding place, distressed by the death of her mother. Mrs. Fowler, using her last ounce of strength, urges Ceresa to stay safe, then dies from her own injuries. Ceresa, unsure what to do, curls up and cries.
Moments later, a passing adventurer discovers the carnage and decides to take Ceresa to the local orphanage. With nowhere else to go, Ceresa agrees to stay at the orphanage. The comic ends with a segue into the beginning of Larissa's Great Adventure.
